Mojo, you ever thought about, or looked into purchasing a welder to do seams?

I have a juki MO3704, does everything needed. Used. I never serge boat tops, just sunbrella furniture covers. I can use solarfix also on machine. Buy a Industrial machine and you'll be good.

You can certainly take off and bring to shop, I do that. Just remember, when quoting, especially in salt water, bolts, screws corrode, allow extra time. I will quote upholstery, then tell client time and materials to remove and install, or you can remove and bring to me. If getting into boats is something you want to pursue, I suggest this forum to join on facebook. Marine Canvas & Upholstery Discussion Centre

Elaborate. Or, call. It can be moldy. No worse than a sofa that had seven cats pissing on it.

Yes, Rhino cad. Free for 3 months, then around $900 to purchase. There is other software also. You can buy a carlson, autometrix and other plotter cutter tables that will take the cad and cut material. That will set you back around $65,000

The Business Of Upholstery / Re: Credit Card Payments

In Wisconsin, as long as I tell them upfront, I can charge the fee. No go if I tell them $100 for job, then add the 3% Many of these clients use cards for points, mileage, etc. that is being feed by the 3% processing fee. I take credit cards because many say, lets go ahead, do you take credit, I didn't bring a check.

I use square, but the customer is told upfront, that the job will cost a additional 3% to cover fee. They all agree to it.

Chris, I have never had a problem with sunbrella (so Far), but I have with recacril. I will say, I have recently been hearing of sunbrella issues, mainly fading, changing color.

The cheaper clears will fail in 5 years, wrong chemicals on all, will assist in early failure on the best. By an airport, jet fuel, coal fired power plant, and lack of care.
