I have been doing upholstery quite a while. I am giving him a few years to train a replacement. But i want to do more custom cars and currently doing mostly furniture. I can make a lot of money where I am doing it by myself. Though he pays me very very well.

What are average shop rates per hr?

Has anyone dealt with a non-compete agreement? I'm currently the lead guy in the shop and they want to have me sign a NCA. I'm fine with it but want to be compensated for the time I can't compete. I have friends who have done this. Any suggestions?

Thanks guys! Just wanted to make sure there wasn't someway to recycle or something. We are a super busy shop and make a lot of waste.

What does everyone do with scrap material? Vinyl, cloth, foam etc. I save a lot of foam but have a lot of useless pieces.

I should add i made a custom cover for a sprinter van head rest that was molded had no clips or anything.

How do people close up injected headrests? I can seem to find a nice clean eay.

What do you guys use for a work order sheet? My current shop's is very basic and vague. I would like a more detailed one for they guys in the shop so i do t have to explain every detail.

I'm doing a vinyl headliner for an old land cruiser. In the back corners i have to cut out a triangular piece and sew back together. At the tip of the triangle it keeps wanting to pucker any suggestions?

Can you legally reupholster a car seat with an airbag?

Im about to embark on my first diamond tufting job and i will be using mohair. Any tips? How much bigger should i cut my fabric?

I do sew one panel and the welt at the same time i havent attempted 3 at once.
