I guess I thought ALL of the money went to research. My naive self was believing that theses so called "stars" donated their time to help these children. $200,000 to some guy to revovate his house!? This very sad

Thank you all for being so kind. The longer I look at this the more I see what you all are looking at. There is a welt cord along the bottom. Although, I went by how the chair was previously covered and it only went from the front legs around to the back legs. The seat cushion is a bit rough. Not only does it stick out a bit (not as bad as the pics, but it sticks out) it's also pretty tight from side to side. I did use the old cushion for the pattern and in hindsight I should have just made a new pattern. That mistake WILL NOT happen again. A steamer it's actually my next piece of equipment to purchase. Again I used the old cushion and wrapped it in 2 layers of dacron (the customer did not want to pay for new foam). I did deliver the chair today and she was pleased with the outcome. I really appreciate the comments and have another wingback waiting. I actually have a few projects lined up in the next month or so and will post them as they get done.

This is an exceptional video, but. Not all of us know how to cover a motorcycle seat. Well, I don't anyway. Can you direct me to some vids that show the upholstering part?

I was simply told-69 nylon for indoor upholstery and 92 polyester for marine and outdoor upholstery. So that's what I'm going with till I figure out different.

Being new, like I always say, can you direct me to the post/posts that give the benefits of reupholstering vs.buying new? I am asked by"my friends" who I tell about my new adventure, they ask"what would such n such cost?" I tell them and I have to step over their jaws as I walk away from blank stares.

On another note, and should probably be a separate thread, but, I am trying to think of names for my new business. Came up with some decent ones but the one I really like, the wife thinks is"stupid.I don't get it." Its "That's Tuft Upholstery". Huh? Cool or what? She still don't get it even after showing her what tufting is. Oh well, back to the old drawing board.

I have never set up a booth for anything but, I think it would be neat if people could see you in action. Like maybe have and old boat seat there that you would cover and recover and recover...... Maybe set times that you are going to be recovering that piece. That way you wouldn't waste a lot of fabric, staples, etc. Don't know if this idea is even feasible, but its just that, an idea.

Couldnt you make a cover that would be similar to one of those that goes on a grill with a stack?

I was one of them that asked "what's the difference?" Well after seeing AND working with quality for the last couple months, I can attest to the HUGE difference, as many, if not all of you. The quality isn't even close, you can see this by looking at the back of the fabric, loose pattern threads, etc. Plus the colors don't seem as crisp and bright. I've learned my lesson and have you folks to thank.

Use a marine grade vinyl and you should be all set for both.

Thanks. Do I, or should I, have to line it with anything? The old, cracked, moldy one had a dacron like lining. Do I really need a lining or just straight up fabric?

Thanks Tim, but how long its this stuff gonna last at $5 a yard? Granted it would be an inexpensive way to practice, but I do want these things to last a little while.

Sounds like a good time. I work with PowerPoint in my other job and they sure do keep things straight and going in the right direction. If you get off track answering questions, just look up at the screen and keep rolling.

Just wanted to let everyone know, not that anyone had been waiting on pins and needles(no pun intended, but not a bad one). Anyway, I ended up purchasing the Consew 226. It runs great, a little dusty and dirty but I have a local guy who repairs industrial walking foot machines. I am sooooo psyched. Does not have a servo motor, so that is going to be my next purchase.

Now for my question about fabric. Since I am just starting, the work isn't here yet, so I want to do a couple projects for myself. Doing this for two reasons, 1st I can get the feel for my "new" machine and 2nd I will get some projects done that I would have taken to someone else to do, two birds, as they say. Now, my first project is a grill cover and the second is a central air conditioner unit cover. They are both going to be custom, obviously, but what material should I use. Vinyl? Canvas? Can I use the same for both? Do I line the material? I live in north central wisconsin and winters get cold. The a/c unit cover is going to be outside all the time,(another obvious) and the grill cover will be stored in the garage during the winter.

I apologize for being so long winded. Any help will be appreciated.
