General Discussion / Outdorr Patio Furniture.
August 07, 2012, 01:32:21 pm
Greetings all
I have a customer that likes to keep the cushions on there outdoor patio furniture.  As it is right now they remove the cushions after every use and store them inside.  I'm looking for a material that is water proof.  Something that they can leave the cushions on without them getting wet and UV protected.  And any suggestions on waterproofing the seams would be a help.
Thanks
Brad

When they cover this seat, is the vinyl just stretched over the seat or is there glueing involved?  The part where the vinyl has disintigrated (open foam) wants to ride up and not lay flat.

The vinyl I used is not real stretchy.  The other option I see is patterning and sewing pieces to fit snug.

Found this from the schmetz site.
S134R Needle System

CANU: 20:05 1
134 (R)
135x5
SY 1955
DPx5

System S134R is generally used in single needle lockstitch industrial sewing machines. It is also known as 135x5, 135x7, 135x25, 1901, DPx5, and DPx7. Standard sharp point. Available in sizes: 10, 11, 12, 14, 16, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, and 24. Needles are sold in boxes of 100 only. When ordering please specify the number of boxes, not the total number of needles (i.e., quantity of 2 = 200 needles).
I'm guesing I need this needle size 18 then greg?
Gobs of info on needle sizing here, will take me a bit to wade through it.  Thanks for the help.

When I look at the needles I have there is 134 (R), is that the needle system?  The line below it references 135x5, what does that tell?

Not even sure if the needles that came with it are the right ones?

Not sure what any of it means and could use some clarification.  What I really need is a needle stronger and can handle V69 thread.  Typically sewing sunbrella.
Thanks

General Discussion / PFAFF 238

Hello
Bought a PFAFF 238 zig-zag machine from a local sailmaker.  Intentions to use it for binding, sailcovers, bags, nothing to serious.  Used mostly on Sunbrella or nylon.  My first experience with it was on a mainsail cover.  It doesn't seem to be able to handle the work.  It misses the odd stitch and where hems meet it has a tough time sewing through the end sections where hems meet.  I have a few things to check, needle size, possibly the thread needs to be lubricated.  Not a lot of information on this machine.  My question is this.  Did I buy a machine that is equivalent to a home makers sewing machine?  The sailmaker said he had it dedicated to bag making.  I struggles making nylon bags with it.  Does anyone have any experience with this machine or advice?
Thank you
Brad
