From what I've read on the net the 555 is a straight stitch tailor type machine, not suitable for Canvas or Vinyl upholstery work

Chris:
It seams to me that many manufacturers are using a vinyl coated fabric that they weld together rather than sew, and very popular right now are 2 piece awnings that have the ruffle separate from the awning making installation a lot easier.

More than a little off topic but seeing your from Cincinnati whats your favorite chili, I prefer Dixie but I've run into those that favor Skyline or Gold Star. I prefer mine served on spaghetti, with Beans, onions, and cheese.

A cannibal was walking through the jungle
And came upon a restaurant operated by a
Fellow cannibal.

Feeling somewhat hungry, he  sat  down and looked over the menu....

Tourist.......................................... $5.00

  Broiled  Missionary:.............................................   $10.00

Fried Explorer:..............................................................  $15.00

Baked Democrat or Grilled Republican:................................... $100.00

The cannibal called the waiter over and asked,
"Why such a high price for the Politicians?"

The cook replied, "Have you ever tried to clean one?
They're so full of s**t, it takes all  morning."

I'm sorry to here you don't like to hear about positive experiences that board members have had with one of your competitors.  Bob Kovar at Toledo Industrial Sewing Machine is a long time member of this board and has helped many of us, Mojo and Myself included with repair issues, parts purchases, as well as new and reconditioned machines. I've found that good honest competition often spurs business rather than diminish it. I hope that you realize that my comments have been honest and unsolicited, and I would expect that the same goes for other forum members that have sung praises for this and other suppliers that offered them service that we consider exemplary.

It's a cool 64 degrees here (Central Wisconsin) but is expected to get to 84 today with much lower humidity than we have been having, and it's not raining!

Glad my information helped you, I've seen several of these two piece units installed! Another thing to mention the two piece design allows you to cut the old awning off and then install the two pieces, if holes don't exist for both pieces just drill and file for them.

Many factory made replacements are made in two pieces now, the ruffle is a total separate piece as that allows it to be installed on any size roller!

lets see a power hacksaw, plasma cutter, milling machine, mig welder, and spray equipment, just your average upholstery shops equipment!

Wow what an excellent job, wish I had that talent and equipment.
