Title: Word Association Game
Post by: byhammerandhand on January 04, 2015, 03:19:04 pm
Let's try the word association game !

The rules are simple. It starts with a single word, and you respond with a single associated word.  For instance, if the word is "hot", the next person could respond with "rod", and the next could respond with "fishing" and so on. Easy ?

If you've read this far, you might as well play [umm, yes, this would fall in the not important and not urgent quadrant]

Now, just type in a single word associated with the last word and let's see how many associations we can make.

So.. here's the first word:

Title: Re: Word Association Game
Post by: sofadoc on January 05, 2015, 06:25:37 am
OK, I'm confused.............Time Out!!

Are we supposed to give a word that normally follows the previous word in a sentence or phrase? Ex. HOT ROD

OR........can we pick a word that merely reminds us of something associated with the previous word or phrase? Ex. HO  STREETWALKER

Actually, you guys may have just re-written history. Perhaps when Chris Columbus peered through his telescope, he was announcing to his crew that the first 2 things he saw were soil and a prostitute.

I'm ready to throw a flag on SteveA. Unless he has a serious rodent problem in his shop, I don't see how you go from "mice" to "fabric".

Anxiously awaiting a ruling from His Grand High Exalted Hammerness.

Rant over........Time back in (pick up with "Streetwalker")

"Bank account" is 2 words, thus in direct violation with Sir Hammer's original edicts.

This is your second infraction SteveA. One more, and you could find yourself on double secret probation.

Be prepared to bend over and say "THANK YOU SIR......MAY I HAVE ANOTHER!!"

I was going to play but it's gotten too confusing.

I like those ink blots better. They all look like chocolate chip cookies and even thought the person giving the ink blot test started writing a bunch of stuff down in her notebook, she never mentioned anything about the possibility of me having to bend over.

I had an ink blot test once when I was a teenager.  My responses were:

1.  two people having sex on a sofa
2.  two people having sex on the floor
3.  two people having sex on a table
4.  two people having sex in a car
5.  two people having sex in a bathtub

At this point the psychologist stops and says, "I think you might be pre-occupied with sex."
I told her, "Well, you're the one with all the dirty pictures!"

We now return you to your regularly scheduled time wasting game.  Come on folks, it's not rocket surgery.

OK, we've gone from bearing to load, and back to bearing. I'll take in a different direction.

The plural form has a different meaning than the singular form. You can use the plural form in Scrabble but not in Scattergories.

May I suggest waiting for the Grand Poobah who started this thread to show up and enlighten us.

Mamas (how hubby refers to the women in "Hot in Cleveland" -- you have to use in conjunction with the last 2 words).

P.S.  I almost didn't recognize Phillips without his trademark black fur cap he generally wore.  You know our animals are "musical."  The dogs were and are Carly Simon (still missed) and James Taylor (doing very well) and the cats are Mama Cass and Michelle Phillips.

Dude!

You used unwashed twice in the last three posts.  I never thought the M&P's looked dirty.  Phillips might have been in need of a shave sometimes but the girls especially always looked nice: clean hair, nice clothing, make-up, etc.

Using unwashed again:

slovenly

QuoteDude!

From the first page as written by the instigator of this game:

QuoteThe rules are simple. It starts with a single word, and you respond with a single associated word.  For instance, if the word is "hot", the next person could respond with "rod", and the next could respond with "fishing" and so on. Easy ?

I obviously misunderstood the rules. I assumed that I was to put the word that came to my mind, not someone else's mind.

On a positive note, 10 pages of replies before someone felt the need to flame ain't bad for an internet community.

Sorry Gene, didn't mean to flame.  I was merely amused that in your two posts, sandwiched around mine, you used unwashed.  Kindly remember that I'm suffering from severe sleep deprivation today ; )

Okay; now that Joe and I have been outside after my knee jerk reaction  and subsequent giggle,

LIGHT.

I think I need egg rolls tonight ----but in a Chinese accent it would sound like " Canoe seeby dan  eerly lie".

DISCLAIMER; I mean no disrespect to any one with english as second language. I cannot speak a word of any of the Chinese languages.
