Title: Marine carpet HELP
Post by: leather on April 12, 2011, 05:31:39 am
I dont do marine upholstery. However, i need to make some carpets for a customers boat. The carpets he has now seem to be made of aqua turf.  After 4  years the black backing has rubbed off and made a mess in his boat. Is there some kind of backing that should have gone on them? Is aqua turf just junk? What materials do you suggest to make a set of durable boat carpets that will stand up to the elements?

Thanks,
Shusta

both Keyston and tri-vantage carry a number of marine carpet selections.. the rubber backing of years ago was just as you say, crap, as it fell apart, but it has come along way and is better than ever.. tri-vantage sells a rubber backed burber for marine use..  We install it weekly and customers are very pleased with the results......

Whats up with the sunburst line of carpet available at miami corp that has no backing on it?

Im worried about using the black rubber backing carpet. This is what was installed 4 years ago and just fell apart.
