I have a singer CE100 and have embroidered on vinyl. I can't see why your Toyota won't work. Have you tried it? I don't know about leather but vinyl works fine. I wouldn't do real extensive designs as it will perforate the vinyl and make it pretty weak. I have only done lettering.
