(we haven't had any snow in over a week and we've had some really good melting days so the snow has really retreated)

Went boating today.  About 80 F and sunny.  Came back early to beat the spring low tide that makes it tough to get down the canal to our boat storage, and spent a little time cleaning her up.  Got a surprising sunburn for February.

BTW, gang, got an idea for a new cover for the boat.  I made a snap-on cover that goes over the windshield and around the cockpit, but I'd like to cover the foredeck.  IMHO, 28' is too big for a single cover because it's a problem to handle.  So, I had this brainiac :P idea to make a boat "bra" that's a foredeck cover that hooks over the nose and comes back to the windshield with bungee hoops that go over the side cleats.  Just a simple top cover, no snap fasteners at all, and something that fits right on the deck so you can walk on it.  I know, it'll get trashed, but boat covers are to protect the boat, not just look good.  All I have to do now is figure out what type of non-skid I can sew at strategic locations under the cover so when walking on it, you don't end up in the drink.  I'm thinking two-toned fabric so you'll know where to step.  Stay tuned!

June I used to make then allot for sport boats when I was up north I just don't see many over here like a mooring co er it fit over the bias but I snaped them at the window base used gypsy snaps the your cockpit cover van snap onto that the two side as you came up with can strap to cleats
and bobbin that's just wrong been there done that wheres the sleds tracks in the snow?

I don't want to hear about your sunburn  :'(
it was 35F here today .  brrrr hehehe

I made some slip over shoe covers from topgun
for when my shoes are dirty and i want to get on a customers boat.

on the sole side i used some antislip mat that you can buy
to put on a dash or table to stop stuff slipping off. Its quite soft
and i did have to make several sewn passes to hold it in place.

I've considered that stuff, Richard.  You can get it at a pretty good price, and heavy duty for throw-rug underlay over hardwood or tile floors.  My only concern with that is the possibility it will melt into the gelcoat and make a mess once it gets good and hot.  Even carpet backing made for boats frequently goops up the deck in the sun.

Global warming my patutie!!  I was down in Tampa 3 weeks ago and returned to -15 degrees.  More snow yesterday and they say it may get in the 30's tomorrow.  Well, we will see what tomorrow brings.  Not felling to sorry for all you palm tree watchers "roughing it"     Let's hear how you are doing in July when you step out of the shower at 7 in the morning and you can't seem to get dry.  Then I will be at the lake in 86 degrees and 10% humidity.  Sweeettt!   P.S.  Picture to follow in 4 months.   ;D

Mike:
We too have a nice view out our windows, a pile of snow that the front end loader left after plowing the 13" of snow from our cul-du-sac. It's as big as a large 2 car garage and the kids are tunneling in it, Wish you could be here!

Was just reading yesterday that the National Weather Center in Miami is predicting that our winter is over  :o  It's going to be in the low 80's for the next 8 or 10 days and they say that after that any cool-down will likely be very mild, if at all.  I actually had to get over the side at Lake Boca on Sunday to push the boat off a sand bank (spring tides are seriously low) and it was rather cool, but I can't say it was cold.  I think the GPS said the water temp was 72.  Methinks we're in for a hot spring/summer (= busy hurricane season = lots of canvas work).

It was -20℃ this morning. They say it'll be +2℃ tomorrow, then -6℃ the next day. Like a rollercoaster or something... I've had enough, I want off.

This 80 degree weather down here sucks. I have been out on my motorcycle several times in the last week which means I have to clean it when I am done.

Now it looks like I may have to start mowing the lawn in a week or two.

We have had the windows open and a nice breeze through the house for a week now.

Bloody warm weather anyways........:)

I know how it goes Chris. It won't be long before I'm complaining about the 30℃ and the humidity. Aparently the only thing Ontario has going for it is no chiggers.
