Anyone ever here of a Stager Model #SZ-21-1N Sewing Machine, and know what the specs are? it has a 1/2 hp 1750 RPM motor and from the picture I've seen it isn't compound feed.
This machine was made by Stager in Japan, now out of business. This is not a copy or similar model, but THE machine Consew was selling as the model 199RB at that time. Some of these were found domestically in the US under the Seiko name, again, at that time they were in production. Consew first brought in the 99, and then the 199R, and 199RB. They brought in machines from this factory for at least 20 years, and maybe well over 30.
Good basic design, can handle garment to 138 thread, do light to medium-heavy materials, and, like most zig zag machines, is a drop feed (Consew does have a 146RB series with top and bottom feed). Large 'M' bobbin. Can handle light boat sail seaming and manufacturing well.
This is model is NOT from the same factory as the current consew 199RB-1A-1 model, and not all parts will interchange. In fact, there are some critical wear parts that are no longer available, such as the hook driving shaft bushings. We tried matching up new Consew, new Seiko, and had no success fining old stock. This was some time ago even.
