Title: Digging out from Stella
Post by: mike802 on March 21, 2017, 08:13:11 am
Hi everybody:  Vermont got hit pretty hard with Winter Storm Stella.  That's always a good excuse to play a little, I got the old 1938 Allis Chalmers Model B out and moved some snow.

That brought back some memories. When I had the farm I used to use an Allis WD-45  to haul the wood back in on a trailer.

I got out in the woods one day, got loaded up and the battery was dead. I had to hand crank it. That was one scary moment as I had heard of people breaking fingers, hands and arms cranking old cars and tractors. Thankfully that old girl fired right up.

I was taught to never put your thumb out when hand cranking and to use the palm of your hand.

I miss the snow in Michigan like I miss a colonoscopy. :)

I get on Facebook with my cousins from Michigan and they bitch and moan about the brutal snow storms. But then they post about fun adventures playing in it. I guess its all how you look at it. My family left Michigan when I was 11 years old. I remember walking the 3 blocks to school in knee deep snow. But I also remember what a blast it was sledding down the hill next to our house.
