Wood roll edges were experienced while working on an older piece, just curious what the date of use of such was? Perhaps someone like Joy will have a comment.
The chair is a rocker, wood grain is tiger, stronger than a rock. It was reported to have been in the family for a good while, I might ask more but don't know how much the current family knows.
This is just one of those things a craftsman might make note of.........
I don't work on many of this nature, enjoyed the experience today.

I'm not sure you can date a chair by the wood rolled edge. Furniture builders have used them for centuries and probably some still do. A better clue would be the type padding, how was the frame joined, what type fasteners were used, etc. Post some pics. Sounds like a fun project.
