I received 14 yards of fabric that had the selvage edges cut off from both sides. They appeared to be cut off with scissors and not in a very straight line.
The fabric is a suede pattern. I was able to use the fabric, but I did need to cut a straight line on the edge to start measuring. The edges were not straight at all.
Any ideas on why the selvage edges would be cut off.
I'm thinking it had to be done at the factory. Why would an end user cut off the selvage edges, especially in such an uneven manner?

My guess would be to denote the piece as defective or sub-standard for some reason.
Now that you mention it, I think I've got in a few COM suedes that came in that way.
