Title: contoured boat seats
Post by: pat on January 18, 2013, 07:15:50 am
Just remembered the boat seats that are in shop in corner. They are from a speed boat, totally contoured to rounded out seat and back, the vinyl has been glued to foam. The question is how do you get the vinyl off the foam without ruining it. Thankz PAT

ive never seen a boat seat glued to the vinyl unless your talking a say a sedoo jetboat . you will probably have to replace the foam if damaged id try to shave it off real close with a blade if possible then glue a new thin layer of foam on to smooth it al out

Sometimes a heat gun will loosen the adhesive enough to get off glued-on vinyl.  But like Mike says, expect to do foam repair or replacement.

Is this old upholstery factory or something done in after market?

If Factory, does it look like it is molded?  If molded, it could get interesting.
