Title: Steaming - Another Tool Some Might Use
Post by: baileyuph on September 29, 2012, 07:25:06 pm
The context of this subject is steam that is applied to furniture work.

Do you steam out your work more or less routinely?  I mentioned skirts, that is an area sometimes steam can help in appearance.

I do press with light steam some times before I sew, seems to improve accuracy.

Working with vinyl as I do, a steamer and a heat gun are just about mandatory. I do use it for final smoothing on fabrics as well.

Hey DB,

Steam to me is second nature like breathing...lol... I even steam skirts after I have put them on. Cool little wood tool held behind skirt while steaming. Just helps to refresh the crisp lines with some skirts that are so refined and need that little something extra. JMHO

Couldn't agree more Karen. Sometimes those dang old skirts just need a little tweaking to lay right.
