Is there a reference that one can go to for figuring out how to disassemble one of these higher tech seats, for example 2004 Navigator?
I had to do a end section repair on one today and it took me about an hour just to disassemble which most of that time was figuring how to remove things like recline adjustment handle and lumbar adjustment knob. It would be of advantage
to be able to look it up. I wondered if a dealer auto parts description is available?
One you get the picture, it isn't all that bad, but while figuring it all out I admit concern that this was no time to break a part.

The dealer's parts department should have a complete exploded view of all sub-assemblies on cars just for parts reference when looking up replacement parts. I've never had a problem getting a printout on any item if I ask the parts manager. They should be able to enlarge a certain are too if you ask.

I might add, just do a generic "2004 Lincoln Navigator Parts" search online. So many dealer parts departments have online sales now you can go right to them on the computer and look up everything and order if you need. you usually get to see the same parts scematics the dealers have access to.
Great! I kinda thought a parts guy at a dealer could help me out. I am definitely going to keep this in mind.
I paid the price but now I am an expert on the 2004 Ford seat parts, I think. I sure learned a lot by sticking to the task of analyzing how the seat was put together.
I remember not long ago, I had a Jaguar in the shop that needed a headliner. I did go look for references and a good thing. I learned that the headliner shell was detailed to get loose but to get it out of the car, guess what?
The rear glass had to be removed!
That does make this work interesting, never a dull moment.
It might be more profitable if it was a little less interesting.
