Title: Favorite Boat Colour Schemes?
Post by: Peppy on March 23, 2012, 04:22:10 pm
I'm on the look out for a new colour scheme for a new boat. What's your favorite? Have any pictures? Thanks!

Green and yellow is okay-

(https://forum.upholster.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1020.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Faf328%2Fpeppypower%2Fth_188111_yellow_green_boat.jpg&hash=5094e3020354e0181edf8edb36385873) (http://s1020.photobucket.com/albums/af328/peppypower/?action=view&current=188111_yellow_green_boat.jpg)

We're looking at a baby poo yellow boat, so that'd be perfect. On the subject of green, this one from the boat show's pretty cool-

But to go back to teal and red-

She'd fit right in with the Filthy Oar! Maybe she'd like to go for a rip?

Good point. Maybe she'd lend Miss Peppy her outfit?

Any auto guys out there with funky interiors?

I live in a parallel universe.  I love color and am undeterred by convention when it comes to combining colors.  In my universe white is tantamount to "primer" and is regarded as the safe haven of the unimaginative or fearful.  My own home is alive with color.  But since I'm in the minority I state my beliefs cloaked in the relative anonymity of the this forum.  ;)

I don't think you can go wrong with classic contrast welting.  I love black, navy, red, and grey.  I love those color paired in any way.  Grey tops with red, white, navy, black welting? YEAH.  Rearrange those colors in any combination and the result will be great.  (see below)

I have a secret passion.  I paint floor cloths.  I love doing them.  I make them to cover the homely sub-flooring in my home and shop.  I use paint and color for cheap(er) laughs.  My shop floor is Advantec OSB subfloor.  I filled the nail holes and cracks between the 4x8 sheets and then primed and painted the surface:

I use whatever paint is cheap at Orange... the "mistakes" of the gutless that I buy for under $10/gallon.  I spend more on the polyrethane than I do for paint.  I loved art and learned the basics of color mechanics and so have a pretty good idea where I'll end up when I begin mixing the leftovers in my "stash".

Sorry for the double picture last night; I wanted to add these as well, but couldn't quite pull it off!

I love those really "hot" neon colors and I'm a total sucker for metallics, too.

I think pink and black could look very cool.  So would pink and grey, or any combination of the 3.  I modified the above post (forgot to add a couple of pix) and I mentioned that I really have a "thing" for metallics, too.

Mrs. Peppy is liking CMYK. Designer speak for ink colours I think? Here's an idea-

My daughter added herself in green. The blue squiggle is me yelling at her for being in the boat she said.

Currently it's the 'Lucky Piece' But that may be subject to change. Same with the colour. Any more inspiration would be appreciated!

Yep it's a Starcraft. 1970's I think. It's got a 75 Merc. It's our mechanics boat. As was the Filthy Oar actually. He may take the Oar back in trade. If not it'll be up for sale. $3000 on a trailer with a 15 Johnson and reams of canvas, if anyone's interested. Buyer responsible for pickup.

Ya, I hope it's in good shape. I don't want to be dodging pistons! He's not really OUR mechanic, he lives close and has a lot of customers and is good. He winterizes a lot of our winter storage boats and we do lots of work for his customers. And he stops in every week with dirty jokes.
