Title: Singer 144A305 Long Arm
Post by: Moparman on March 12, 2012, 06:13:09 am
Hey Gregg,  In your opinion, are these good machines in general and suitable for automotive upholstery?  Any idea what a reasonable price on one that is about 12 yrs old with new motor and stand would be.  Do you know if it is easy to get a manual for one?  (It is a compound feed w/reverse)

Thanks for your input and anyone elses.

Bryan,

Singer 144A305 is a very high quailty German made machine that we would normally sell for truck tarp covers, heavy tents and awnings, medium/medium heavy webbing using threads up to a V346, V277 is best.

Now...you can do what you want with whatever you want, but this machine is normally considered a bit too heavy for general purpous canvas and upholstery.

You may be limited with smaller needle sizes, and presser feet, in some cases.

Again, not that I would sell it for this specifically, but yes, we have customers doing canvas work with this style machine.

Hope this helps!
