My running joke is that someday folks will be able to ship their furniture to China, have it reupholstered, and shipped back to their home, for less than an upholsterer would charge to do it locally.
I make a lot of cornice boards. I have very competitive prices and I am very good. I can get them made almost 1000 miles away from me for less than I charge. And that includes shipping. The quality is not the same. I would never leave exposed bare wood on a cornice board that has a hinge, and my lining on the back lays flat, but then, who really cares if the price is right?
If it weren't for the Mexican border I'd probably be able to go all the way to China.

I'm with you Gene. My backs look as good as the fronts on my cornice boards and sometimes I wonder who cares.

That's some nice woodwork Mike. I wouldn't want to cover it. But I'm no decorator.
Oh, I forgot to mention: the lower price from 1000 miles away included the fabric!!!
ouch!
