This video makes me sick. :)

What a breeze these things are when you have the right equipment.

That's how fast I sew my boxed cushion covers... in my dreams.

Thanks for sharing those. That's the 'volume' side of the street.

Why is it they never show you what they have to do when the bobbin runs out, or the top thread breaks halfway through the process? Happens to me all the time!
Oh and a staple gun that just shot it's last staple right when you've heated and stretched a piece of vinyl and need to tack it in place.  >:(

I would hazard a guess that the machines used to join the runs on those large awnings are chain stitch machines.  Set up is with cones of thread for the top needles and lower loopers, so running out of bobbin is not an issue.  Also machinery that emplys loopers is capable of far greater speed than are conventional, bobbin machines.  In a production setting any single/double needle requiring a bobbin would likely be outfitted with a counter and a sensor that alerts the operator when the bobbin is low.

Production work is really interesting and the inroads digital and computer techology has provided move it forward at warp speed.

Pretty standard on new(ish) full function machinery.  It's really handy.  ;)

Pricey item eh? I asked for one on my new Juki a few years ago and was told it wasn't available.
