As always; dead on Chris. And the sooner we quit re-visiting this problem ( he she or it appear to have left anyway) the sooner it'll get buried and forgotten. Very much like that episode a few years ago with "Richard A","dick doak" , et al.

Quoteoff today to cottage country

Funny; that's what we call the area around Kenora Ontario.
If you're in my hood while I'm stuck  here in Brandon Mb (nephew's grad sat.) I'm gonna spew.

Quotewere doing a bit of sailing and some snorkeling

??? I thought you were P.A.D.I certified ??? If conditions down there are all they say they are I'd be air on demand or bust!

There's nothing wrong with your ramps Ev. What you need to do is get rid of that weenie "stock" blade and get yourself a fine toothed bandsaw blade about an inch and half wide. A couple of idler pulleys at the bottom and some drive wheels up top hooked up to a 399 Koelar (sp) like I had in my Skidaddler and you're off to a "tool time" interview.  :P.

You could make a temporary plate out of an electrical box blank cover ( the round ones) until you see what all you need to order. [never mind how I know that; and have about half an hour of free time ready]

Or, where this is just for a quick shake down "cruise", throw a little duck tape or packing tape over the opening and stomp that bad boy, let's see what it'll suffer. 8)

That's hillarious. I've had days where I felt like that LOL. Maybe it';s just as well I only worked on the little guns (105 mm). My head wouldn't fit. 8)

Is there any residue or burn marks inside? It reminds me of the thing you see the catholics burning incense in in the movies.

My first machine was a 31k20 with a rolling foot, circa 1929.I still have it, and I might still have the 31k16 . I've driven 15's and 19's. Nice machines.

Nice top Peppy. Where the flaps come down over the windows; do you velcro them to the windows?

Socceer is gaining popularity here in Canada. we're still well behind the europeans but we're gaining. It's biggest advantge is the cost. To outfit one kid to play hockey or football is expensive, then comes league fees, his kid brother, etc...

QuoteWhat kind of football are we talking about?

That would have to be what we north americans can soccer. With the differnces in the rules it would be hard for an american/canadian football (played with an oblong ball) game. Will that be three downs or four? Do we share the 50 yard line or do we have ten yards of "no man's land ? etc... Aussie football is so different from NFL or Cfl that it would be impossible.

QuoteYou got any more secrets you're hiding from us?

I hide nothing, I don't subscribe to "need to know", but if I told you the clasified stuff I'd have to kill you.  :P

You don't starve this long in this many trades and still survive without picking up a little hat fill. That's why I hang here. Trying to stuff something between my ears to slow down the wind. And it has been working for ?? years. You people ROCK!!

That reminds me: THANK YOU EVERYONE for all the years of information.concern and fellowship. :-*

You just answered your own question Bobby. No body knows about them, so no no body uses them, so know body finds out about them etc...

My apprenticeship as a shoemaker was three years. During that time I saw two of these pens. Master had one tied to his pocket and the upper maker had one locked in a drawer on his cutting table. As a journeyman over the  next two years I was allowed to borrow one once in a while. Years later I was hanging around
Warkov's (which for those of you old enough to remember the Walton's ; is much like Ike Gotsey's general store) and mentioned these "wonderfull, mysterious pens" and they looked at me like I had three heads. Mike walked over to a drawer and pulled out a Ziplock back full of what looked like ball point pen refills and said "these?, they're $1.60 a pop. How many do you want?". Who knew ???

To be honest Bobby,  I only scimmed over it enough to be sure we were talking apples and apples. And yes we are. I buy mine from my shoe findings wholesaler (Warkov Safeer in Winnipeg). You ain't gonna find one at Wallyworld. these are a specialty item.

Ultra leather etc were the ones that I had to use a cleaner on (hence my comment) on anything else a damp cloth or lick your thumb and "poof" it's gone like chaulk. Unlike chaulk, it doesn't rub off from handling the project.
1919
I don't know if they were "Fisher" but we used erasible silver pens in myformer life making shoes. They worked cat's on leather but I have a couple of vinyls that they didn't wipe off as well on.

>:( That reminds me. I haven't seen mine since the move. Oh well found my  box of chaulk the other week so it's all good.

QuoteMaybe I need a better air hammer. With mine, I always left a carnage of jagged staples, and splintered wood behind that had to be dealt with.

I had to experiment a bit with angle of attack and direction to get my best results. Or you may just have too "good" a hammer.
