I am having a issue where the welt I have sewn is coming out all wavy ( see pic ). Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong . Using the same 1/4 welt cord I use on everything else and have never had this issue even using the boardy marine sunbrella . This fabric is very expensive and i'm freaking out !! Pushed it to the side for a couple days and figured I'd ask the masses here . Thanks for looking !

The "GREEN" Room! / 23 regulator enclosure
May 15, 2013, 09:31:39 am
23 regulator . New enclosure , strataglass , weblon regatta , hard polycarbonate windshield. This boat had track on it so there was at one time an enclosure but the owner had none of it. Re configured sides for track to track.

Got this in my inbox today !!

I hope all is well this Friday.  I know this is your super busy time, so please let me apology up front if this request is a waste of your time.  That's not my intent.  I just wondered if I could pick your brain for a minute.

Have you ever considered -- or tried, bombed or maybe succeeded -- making some men's cargo shorts out of marine grade fabrics? I've been wondering if they would be durable and interesting to wear.

I should have come up with this idea in the depths of November -- when business is slow.  I hope you have a few minutes to reply.

Back to my idea -- I can't assume marine grade fabric cargo shorts would be the most comfortable pair of shorts one might own. But I have this idea in my head that they might look cool, be unique, and seldom wear out.

Any thoughts are welcomed.  If this is possible, might you be able to fabricate a pair for me? I could supply the fabric (or buy it off you) and provide the pattern and pay you.

All the best,
P.S. If this sounds like a crazy idea -- feel free to say, "Jeff, sorry dude, but you're crazy." I won't be offended
hmmmmmmm ?

Been a crazy end of 2012 and busy January here moving and getting up and running. New place is so big I have no idea how I'm gonna pay to heat it. Been getting some awesome high end cars though. Upholstry/canvas just getting set up now. Work there is getting a little backed up.

fit this sucker in the shop during the hurricane !

The epoxy coating on the floor was shinier than this audi paint job !

General Discussion / The storm after the storm!
November 06, 2012, 02:05:00 pm
Well as I get back to the shop today , finally , after a week of cleaning and no power , I get my first call of a job from hurricane sandy damage. Worked for the guy before , so a few time repeat customer. Big Viking cruiser , was all winterized and had the canvas down and winter covers on. All shredded to hell but for the one new one I made last season for the stern out of top gun. He also left me the regular enclosure on the boat to do some winter work on. That got blown away once the other covers shredded! Finally he wanted me to recover some cushions on a wicker set of furniture , they're gone too! Seems the boats left in the water fared better than the ones that were blocked up in the marina. I can't get to the boat to see it yet , the town is without power so the natl guard will only let in residents.

Now a nor easter this week , maybe snow !!

General Discussion / dirty canvas repair job.
July 25, 2012, 06:44:03 am
I've had people bring me dirty stuff before but yesterdays job topped them all. A guy gives me a pontoon bimini to patch some dock piling rash on . When I rolled it out on the table to pattern the patch there were crab shells and claws all dried out and inside the top !! WTF !!  :P

General Discussion / 72" WHITE CHANNELING ANYONE?
February 24, 2012, 08:46:41 am
Went to quote q job the other day and the gunwhale pads wrapped in white channelling are 6' long. All I have ever seen is 54" channelling . The pleats run up and down so i am trying to avoid a seam . Origional had no seam so must be 72" channelling out there somewhere !!

i have a customer wanting me to fab this on his boat. Wonder what they used rot the rails in the pocket. I see they are screwed to the upright braces on the rail. I'm sure the mesh is testaline or pfifiertex mesh. That part is easy but wondering how they framed them out.
