A few turns with a phillips head after drilling is my mc guyver method . Haven't chipped any gel in years and don't have to look for that special bit . . Just saying

Yeah, I think foam welt expands or contracts a little after you sew it in, causing the waviness with soft fabrics.

I think I answered my own question as I looked at the different types of welt cord on the upholster.com site and found this note for the jute cord and the foam cord .
Foam Flex Welt Cord is also good for outdoors. Again cut the fabric on the bias to prevent wavy cording.
5/32" 500yds.

Jute welt cord is great for sewing outdoor furniture cushions. Wasahble. Cut the fabric on the bias and pull tight while sewing to prevent wavy cording.

1 straight cut
2 on sharp turns
3 foam welt cord
4 waves all over , straight runs and curves
5 welt sewn to plate then boxing sewn on
6 All good with the vinyl cushions I made yesterday for a viking .

Thought it may have to do with the welt cord and the soft hand fabric to be honest .

Thanks

Installed a cover on a toon at a marina the other day . Came with all hardware , had to install some snaps. Studs supplied were the self drilling variety. Worked great and there were a ton left over for my stainless hardware tray .

I am having a issue where the welt I have sewn is coming out all wavy ( see pic ). Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong . Using the same 1/4 welt cord I use on everything else and have never had this issue even using the boardy marine sunbrella . This fabric is very expensive and i'm freaking out !! Pushed it to the side for a couple days and figured I'd ask the masses here . Thanks for looking !

I think the backing is stiff so as not to pull out of the extrusion on the bed rails. It slides in a channel on the rails right ?

I tell all these tele marketers they need to speak to Bob but he's out fishing. Actually there is no bob here ! Usually they call back asking for Bob. They get a " he's on the other line , hold just a minute ' .Sometimes they even call back again . If I was really working hard on something demanding all my concentration and get interrupted I will blow my cork and repeat the scene from the 40 year old virgin .

Watched a old partner do it many times . someone always felt they got the raw end of the deal. I don't do it.

I have both like mike but I prefer the right angle binder . I use a 1" binding and binder. I find this one easier around the corners but misses sometimes in the corners. Bought it from keystone and they set it up for my consew before sending it out.

There is a vinyl with a fleece backer. That would be like what the companys that make the car bras use. Sorry I cant remember the name right now

Sorry mike , been under cover . It's on the back of the arch where the rear cover would attach.

On vinyl , chalk , tailors chalk that is or reg pencil on the back side   . On canvas chalk pencils  . On clear  vinyl i use china marker , like a light color yellow , no black ! Soapstone pencil is on my want list  to try !
