for those of you that do marine work, how do you repair rotten plywood panels? what kinds of materials do you use? where is a good source to get the new plastic boards used?

I bought some "merit pro" marine vinyl, white, 70014. The place I got it from went out of business, I want some more. That is what I found written on the bolt, I think it is being packaged under some other name and distributed. If anyone knows, Let me know

I know some people like June like to kick it old school an the non reverse singer 111w style machines like myself and I have never been able to get larger thread like 138 to work for me. t69 is always safe and flows well in the machine for me. Allegedly one can use a t138 but i never did it successfully. can it be done and do I need to adjust things like bobbin tension and or bobbin case opener clearance?

I wonder if you can take a singer 11w, or a consew 225 etc and put the larger bobbin in it. Some aspects make me think it can be done. Specifically, can you put the adler 167 large bobbin in an adler 67 with small bobbin?

General Discussion / Storage Cover for Wooden Boats
October 20, 2012, 05:54:46 pm
I am in the planning and designing phase of a concept for a wooden boat cover. My primary market use is for boats that are housed on winches/ lift cradles in boat houses generally behind a canvas curtain in a stall. Think ChrisCraft and Garwood. generally under 20' in length, mahogany , teak etc. Rarely trailered and advisably never trailered with a cover on. They are generally easy to pattern, large flat fop surface with a glass windshield coming up. Abrasion resistance when the cover is coming off and on is an issue as the boat wood and chrome trim simply cant be abraided. I am thinking weathermax and or sunbrella. I dont want to attach fasteners so I am going to use shock cord in  the hem and run it under the rub rail. I want to make a skirt in the back and sometimes on the sides to protect the transome from weather and this is most often where hand painted boat names are located. Thoughts on lining the cover and or adding chaffing resistant patches are appreciated. I will have to make some sort of allowance around where a winch will clip on the front and back of the boat unless they have a lift cradle which is most often the case with wooden boats. I want to generally pattern them while on the lake from the dock or take them to my dock and pattern them.
so talk amongst yourselves.

General Discussion / Need clutch motor pulley
July 15, 2012, 12:00:37 pm
I need a clutch motor pulley for an older giant singer 1950's clutch motor. It goes on with the locknut and has a large center hole with four locator studs.. It is obsolete to say the least. Any leads would be appreciated, I can email a picture of it, I cant seem to upload it here because of my file path

I am in the process of designing a new top for a singer 111w table. I am putting a new motor on it, the kind that bolts behind the machine with three bolts. Any suggestions as to materials, size etc would be appreciated. My table top is so old that is is 16*42"... I am thinking 20x48 for a new one, using my old metal legs. I am thinking ab out using two thicknesses of 1/2" plywood and cutting the machine footprint in the top sheet and cutting an inner beveled lip on the second lower sheet to hold up the machine. Maybe cover the top with marine vinyl so its easy to keep clean and not much snagging
