General Discussion / embroidery
July 31, 2014, 02:35:47 am
my wife has recently purchased an embroidering machine. we are new to this. I thought that I could help her out alot being that I design alot of eps files on flexi like every day, but come to find out, theres a whole other very expensive way to do that? and guidance that anyone can give me would be great...we already got alot of money invested into the maching and program...now I have to spend hundreds more on another digitzing program??? like all I wanna be able to do is add a bunch more fonts, and other logos that I can basically import from my flexi program to be embroiderd.

General Discussion / Upholstery Gun
July 22, 2014, 08:31:14 pm
Hi

I wanted to purchase an upholstery gun and stapler. I have been using the BEA long nose at my class, however to purchase this model and silent compressor is quite expensive.

I have looked at JA Milton, however does anyone else have any other recommendations.

Thanks

General Discussion / replacing feather fillings
July 22, 2014, 08:25:00 pm
I have a nice sofa from Heals, that just needs recovering and the cushions refilling. The old cushions are feather and are pretty shot. I would like to replace with foam and feather, but the prices I see are so variable I don't know what to expect.

Are there any recommended firms that do a good work for filling the inners? The cushions themselves are quite large, about 32"x28", and I did wonder if feather & foam is the best for this size.

Thanks.

General Discussion / decorative stud strips
July 22, 2014, 08:08:40 pm
Good title.....
but not the decorative stud strips you might have first thought of

I unfortunately agreed to cover a friends Chaise Longue, besides the fact that the fabric she chose is curtain not upholstery fabric she wants studs around the edges like these

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-20-Metre...item8bc0c768ff

has anyone ever used them .... are they flexible enough to go round a scroll arm or are they just for straight edges. I have had a quick look on mydeczo and searched you tube but no luck

We have an older car that has developed a perpendicular split on the left-hand driver's seat (US car) about 4-5 inches long. I have a thin kidskin leather made into a jerkin-styled top, which I no longer wear. I had Fred pull it over the headrest and let it fall without tucking it in. It worked very nicely, until his constant sliding out of the car tore that also. I can repair the split, but believe it will just rip further along. So, what in fabric or leather, would be a good choice? No vinyl, it is too difficult for me to handle.
