So how do you like the speed control?
They send an extra brake pad & brushes w/the motor,you might need them a few years from know.Do what I do,put them in a good spot & in a couple of years you'll be
tearing your shop apart looking for them.LOL,probably the best thing to do is put them ina bag & fasten on the motor somewhere.

Try pulling some thread through the needlebar thread guide & see if it cuts it.

We used to sell that motor & tried to modify it so it would start slow & never really felt it started slow enough & on the ones we had the slow start didn't work,it seems like if it was set on 0 or 9 it still started fast.
So since the factory wouldn't change we found another supplier of a different style of motor that have brushes & NOW have a very nice motor that starts slow & has alot of torque.
We've sold well over 200 & haven't had any come back yet,which was also a problem with the brushless type is the chip would burnout in them.
It has a real nice full range of speed as you push on the pedal & you just turn a knob on the front of it to control the top speed or use your foot.

Well I'll put my $0.02 in here.When the thread gets wrapped ubderneath it is usually a tension related issue or you are not holding the needle thread to first 3 stitches.If the tension(needle thread) is too loose,or not threaded correctly and you should take the upper discs apart maybe once a week (since some of this marine type of thread leaves alot of fuzz between the discs & can hold them open) & clean them.

I like the servos myself,they are quiet & easier to control than a clutchmotor.We used to sell the brushless servos but have since discovered the one w/brushes to be quieter & more reliable.98% of are sales have servos on them.
Also these motors only use electric while you are sewing so there's less power  used than the clutchmotor that's running all day.
Also have you ever put your hand on the end of a clutchmotor while it's running you feel alot of heat coming out (which is ok this time of year up here) but in the summer just makes your shop warmer.

Yes,that is a great deal,sounds like no more than what he's sewn it's like new.Somebodty will be getting a bargain.

I can't offer a reason except that I've had that happen before with that style of motor so I think the starter windings are going bad causing this if you spin the motor the correct way it's supposed to run & turn the switch before it stops spinning it'll run the correct way.

Yes,you won't be able to mount the sensor on this machine with the type of knob on it,but a servo will still fit & work a lot better than a clutchmotor.

Can you give me the make & model?I really doubt if it will fit  because there's an adapter flange that  needs to mount on the end of the handwheel,it won't fit on your knob.
