Due to the remote area I'm in, I've posted an ad on Craigslist.  Has anyone had sucess with Criagslist?

Trying to drum up business.  I'm self employed.  Upholstery, alterations, remodeling, etc.

I've had some decent luck on CL through the years. You will probably get a bunch of spam, and nonsense from it but just use common sense and you will be fine. The cost is right and if you get a client out of it its worth the trouble.
I've found a well done ad does better than just text. It make you look more professional. My opinion anyway.

Give it a shot -- regularly as the listings get stale quickly.   All you have to waste is your time posting and weeding out tire kickers.

Just be sure to re-read your post and make sure it makes sense before posting.

I've seen too many ads  that read something like, "Mechanic's tools.  Call Joe at xxx-xxx-xxxx"

I thought CL was more for urban areas. I live in a rural area also. the nearest CL city is 1 hour-20 min away. I've tried advertising with little success. But nothing ventured nothing gained.
There cannot be a crisis next week. My schedule is already full.

Here's a guys ad in my area. This would get some attention and probably a call better than a 2 liner. Throw in a couple pics. Check it

Yep, that's bound to get more attention than text alone.  Any pics will work better than a simple text ad.  And even if you have a website, at least one or two "teaser" pics should be included in the ad.  I know I don't click on a link unless there's something that makes me want to - and words alone won't make me want to.

Like this one... I'd probably never call.
