The Business Of Upholstery / Re: Awards posted

Exactly Bobbin...    experimenting with what gives the look needed. ;-)

The ratios were appr..   I cut and prepared for  3:1 -- but the technique used to get the ruffled effect is not precise.. so I actually used a bit less fabric..  which is why I said my ratio was  2.5- 3...   (meant to read 2.5 to 3 times the length needed).   Not always clear on things I write...  my bad.

I didn't keep the time.. suffice to say --  it did take a few hours more..  I would have to guess that I probably have  at least 6-8 hrs  more in it than had there been no ruffles or gathers...

Glad you liked it.

I have had to clean up competitors messes many times.   Its always on my terms, but I will do it.  Someone has to.  And explain to them what happened.  Its not  easy to defend your trade to someone who's been "taken" but its part of the job.    Sunshine n PC is right --  some  people are  very slick. And thats sad as heck.  :(

I love the old machines too.

(As for the offensive name.. I agree.   Report it to the moderator.. he can ban them till they come back with a decent  nickname).

You can buy designs is sets or one at a time, depending on the seller.

You can buy the software to digitized your own stuff.. but its expensive, then there is the learning curve to use it.  Embird is one and I think is considered the best for home embroidery.   Google it and read up.

You can also take a  picture to a company who specializes in digitizing and embroidery..  Around here its about $35 per design to digitize and $5 to stitch out.

While I have Embird and the machines..  I prefer to  send my digitizing out -- saves aLOT of time!

BTW ~~   Those are some really sweet  seats, whoever gets them are gonna LOVE them!  And if my daughter sees that she will be screaming at me to  put that on her  leathers!!!  (She just bought a Harley).

Did you buy the designs off eBay too??

Take it back to the shop.

When he's ready to pay IN FULL.. Then go install.   Last guy did me like that -- I went and repo-d his seats and top...  4 days before the 4th of July.     Legally its mine till he pays for it...

he paid.

Hi SofaDoc,

I'm not sure what the requirements are for membership now..   Jack did  make some changes a few months ago --  perhaps your request just slipped through the cracks??    Why not send him an email and ask him?

Enjoy reading your posts.

In ripping...I find that your technique has to change to the specific job  at hand.  The Bantam won''t work all the time...  rippers, nippers and pliers all have a place at times, as  do the trusty lil staple pullers, rubber mallets and dykes.  To each his own! :-)

I made my remarks on the stripbit at Carrs.

Quote30 seconds walking around the sofa with the air chisel and all that chip strip was off.

Gene...   ??  You're kidding!    What is a "chip strip"?  (Never heard that term before.)  And.. How did you do that in 30 seconds??   I have a Bantam and really like it but it is only FAST on easy to pull staples.. or...  ... ...  I am doing something waaayyyy wrong.

Thanks,

Cheryl
