hi , im caroline . i am new to the forum . i know this has been probably asked before , and i did a search and didnt find what i was looking for . can anyone tell me how to time my 206rb . everytime i have to send it to the repair shop and they charge me 120 dollars . any advice or info i can get to read please let me know . thanks everyone

Do you have to send it in for timing a lot? If so, you either have some worn parts, or the shop isn't doing a good job (or both).

It is not real hard. Once you do it you will be able to time it whenever you need it done.
I am questioning also why it needs to be constantly re-timed. What is it doing to make you think it is out of time ?

i guess it doesnt happen really often now i think about it , it usually happens when i am trying to train someone new . i dont really get to see what they did when it happens . the guy at the repair shop actually said its because its one of the new consews , and they are not made as well as the old ones . i have 2 old and 1 new , thee new one does seem to be at the repair shop more . and thank everyone so much for your imput , this forum is so nice because i really dont have anyone to ask these questins . caroline
My old singer was giving me problems. Every once in a while it would skip when I first pushed the pedal. I tinkered with it for months and finally changed the belt (the old one was probably 30 years old :-[) Its worked fine ever since.

I am wondering if the place that is fixing your machine is causing some of the problems. I bought a machine through Bob last year that is near identical to yours ( Chandler 406rb5 ) and I have had no problems like yours. The only problems I have had were due to operator error.

Have you tried the shaft lock button on the base? Push in and hold the
button then pull the pulley towards you. You will feel it lock in.
Are you sure it's the timing and not the needle position?
