Thanks for that Jim

I have emailed them.... the postage would not be too bad . They are on the Pacific side anyway.  We have fast clipper ships on that route these days  ;D

Hello all

I've been looking around for some army style 1" cotton webbing around 2mm thick . The only suitable stuff I can find locally, is to buy some horse lunge leads , these I can buy in a dark bottle green , I would prefer the khaki light browny stuff .

I have some new WW2 era 1" webbing straps , but these are too short , about 10" long .  I need this stuff to make a 3 seater top for my Land Rover.. this link explains it all

Any ideas ?

Juki 555's are a dime a dozen over here in Australia. There are ten of these around for every walking foot machine you see. I guess with factories closing a large amount of surplus  555's came on the market .

Hello All

My 226-R2 sews OK.. but it has always had a problem.

When sewing a small test piece of canvas , the stitch length is nice and even .

But on work pieces , like a large canvas top for a Land Rover , the stitch length is all over the place . I think the large work piece doesn't feed through the feet evenly. The stitch length  tends to shorten up , even though it is set for the longest stitch size. It might be the operator doing something wrong-me .

General Discussion / Slow down pulleys

Hi

Its MIKE in Australia

Well, I made up some pulleys for my Consew 226-r2 ... it now runs at about 3 stitches per second , rather than ... very fast .

I bought an old lathe recently and I  turned up some small M section V belt pulleys . The M section seems to be the standard V belt size for these machines . The difference is amazing . I made a small 35mm diam . pulley for the motor,( 15mm hole )  this drives a 150mm pulley ..other end is another 35mm which drives the sewing head .

It mooches along so slowly now ... much more control

I used standard ball bearings on the shaft I turned up..only $3  for each bearing ...

If anyone wants a small M section pulley .. let me know .. I can bore it to any dimension .
