We use the clipboard method but go one step further. The clipboards are all colored. Red is a hot order, typically an RV Dealer some place that needs it today. Blue is a 2 week drop dead order and black is a 3 week order. We then line them up and cycle the orders through.

If we see a red clipboard, we know it is a " hot " order and needs to get done and shipped out. We have been back logged up to 5 weeks before, but have got that down to 2 weeks simply by working smarter and adjusting our production routines and techniques.

Dealers always get moved to the front of the line. They typically have a customer either living in their bus on their lot or they are calling and screaming to get their bus back. We knock out and turn around  dealer orders in 24 hours typically. What is funny is to have them call and ask for second day air shipping ( very expensive ). Most of the time it is because the parts guy forgot to place the order several days prior. That is routinely an $ 85.00 shipping expense versus $ 15.00 by ground.

Our dealer network is growing and we have been getting killed by 4 of them this last month.
