Title: A big project!
Post by: regalman190 on August 22, 2010, 04:27:59 pm
This is another project I finished recently. 15 New windows on a 65 passenger charter catamaran. All windows mounted with Keder welt and zipped to each other.

Nice one! Is that roll vinyl, strato, or what? Is it awning rail at the top? Panel jobs like that give me hives. Something always goes wrong I find. Like I think its to easy and so to prove myself wrong I f**k it up some how.

Thanks Chris!

Thanks Peppy!

The panels are 30 ga. Aqua-View from Manart trimmed in Sunbrella. They are hung from Keder welt and zippered at the bottom and sides. the bottom zippers are on Keder welt also.

Google is your friend! ;D

It's used a lot on stuff like awnings.  It's basically a way to attach material to a fixed structure of some kind.  When I worked at a camper store/sales lot, we used it to attach awnings to campers.

The link I posted shows a double flap keder cord but I can't find how or what it's used for.  I'm guessing that you would just sandwich the material in between the two flaps when sewing it on??

Anyone ever use double flap?

Isn't Keder cord the same thing as welt cording ?

Has anyone ever used welt cord for Keder cord ?

Never used it, but I think it would be useful for anything with two layers - enclosure glass plus screen, for instance.  Maybe stitch one layer to one flap and a zip on the other for optional zip-out screening.

BTW, Regal, that's one heck of a big enclosure job.  Nice work!

Phat-cat  job dude ,   Trick corners too
So what are the loops for on the inside ?     Hand holds ,I guess

All these questions about Keder... It ain't such epic stuff.
Just a step up (perhaps a sideways step in some applications)
from 6mill braided polyester line wrapped in canvas.

The problem is that if they both return to the top like they did for decades, they would play each other twice in a week. The Big 0,11,12, thinks that is a bad idea.

Thanks all!

RAF...you're probably messing with me, but I'll play along. The loops could be used for "hand holds" but you won't hold on for long. They are snapped into a loop. They hold the windows up when they are rolled up.

I still think having OSU, Mich and PSU together is not a big deal.  But thats easy for me to say, since my team would be in the other division.
