The "GREEN" Room! / A Very Nauti Cover
May 30, 2014, 05:09:41 am
Finally managed to find a workaround for displaying thumbnails for Dropbox here. Where there's a will.. :)

Winter cover for a Nauticat 32 in Odyssey.
Made this last winter and it's tuned out pretty good, although the aft section is a tad tight, but nothing to worry about.

General Discussion / It's been a While...
May 18, 2014, 06:53:48 pm
...Morning all. It's been a while!
Sleep pattern has gone to pot so I'm sat here at 2.45 in the morning surfing.

I hope my fellow canvas members are all fine and have lots of work coming in. Yummy!

I would post a load of  pics but they're all on my phone at work, so you'll have to make do with this one I uploaded some time last year for whatever reason, I forget.

Black Sauleda PU coated acrylic, with crappy 30 thou Taiwan rolled glass (note to self - stop using that tripe), all panels detachable, with buckles and straps fastened to pre-existing lacing posts/buttons. Oh, I charged extra for the gurk in the stbd rear window. It's got to be worth a few extra quid, eh? ;)

They say when it doesn't rain, it pours. Well, last winter it also blew. So much so it tripled my work load in the repair department. I'm knackered!!!

Anyway, I'll try and pop back some time and post some more pics, if you're interested.

Remember, get out there and stitch your customers up good and proper. ;)

Jerry.

The "GREEN" Room! / Another Winter Cover
February 09, 2012, 09:36:10 pm
Knocked this one up just after the other one I posted some time back.

A Nicholson 32 if I remember correctly.

I actually ran out of cloth for this one, thought I ordered enough to do both jobs but had to reorder from a different batch so there was a colour difference.  :'( In the shop the difference in colour was something I couldn't ignore so decided to come clean with the customer and inform him. He wasn't too fussed about it and went away a happy chappy with an extra year of free servicing for the error. Fitted the cover; Could hardly see the difference in daylight. :plonker:

General Discussion / Ribbit Ribbit
November 17, 2011, 02:36:01 pm
Don't see many RIB covers posted on the forums, so here's one I finished yesterday.

Held on with RIB hooks & bungee hidden under a 3.5" reinforced flange for UV protection and neatness. A anti-Peppy RIB whereby the console is off-centre, therefore impossible to half template.  ;D  Just kidding, mate. :)

McDonalds has "I'm Lovin It", Nike "Just do it" etc...

So I'm thinking of having 'We'll stitch you up in no time'

What do you think?

General Discussion / Moving on
October 27, 2010, 06:21:24 pm
Nothing is signed as yet, should be by this time next week, but it looks like we're on the move.  :D We've almost secured a place in one of UK's largest and most expensive marinas. A nice, although smaller unit than we currently have, but it's within easy walking distance to the 600 berth marina. The 1st years rent is like, OMG!, 2nd, OMG! OMG! and the third is, well, OMFG!! and it's not something I like to think about too much, well, only when I have to. But hey, in for a penny...

Thought I would post this up, although somewhat prematurely, but I don't think I'll be back here again for a bit once things kick off. I will however try and keep you updated.

General Discussion / When it's too Windy for a Windy...
September 13, 2010, 10:26:06 am
...You climb off the boat, have a smoke, calm yourself down, go for a wee and then return to the boat relaxed, calm and ready to have another go. But upon your return you find that it's always blowing harder than ever!!!!

WHY WHY WHY!!! >:( >:( >:(

Having quoted for a large job a while back we were promptly informed that we weren't successful due to being more expensive than the winning quote from one of our competitors. Although this is fair enough and shit happens, we have been aware for some time that the quality of this competitor is somewhat questionable to say the least, and felt a little irked about losing the job to them for that reason.

It now turns out that the would be client isn't a happy bunny with them and turned up at our door expecting us to complete our competitors unfinsihed work, but they were somewhat surprised when we refused to handle the unfinished work. We explained that we don't mind having to make slight alterations that are made by others, but we draw the line when they bring in a number of skins for boat seats that need to be butchered in order to fit, and will at the end of the day look bloody awful, and most importantly have our name associated with them.

They went away, again, not happy bunnies, but we are now feeling bad about it and feel that we've become the bad guys in all this.

So I ask, what would've you done if in our shoes?

Another competitor of ours here on the south coast of England, boasting the "Worlds First Universal Hydraulic Bimini System".

General Discussion / Busy day on the Solent

The Round the Island Race 2010 is underway (5am).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4sevp-Kf78

With 1754 entrants this year it's going to be a tad busy out there at the start line, even if they do go off in groups at 10 minute intervals:

Crazy stuff.

It's always a very busy time for everyone here. Why oh why do they always leave things to the last minute to get things done!!!  ::)

General Discussion / Anyone know what this is?

I don't have any info on this object, a guy I know showed me it a few months ago and he had no idea to its purpose.

Any ideas?

General Discussion / Got myself old faithful back
June 09, 2010, 12:45:09 am
It had to be done. I couldn't resist the 90 quid price tag for the whole lot. Cheap as chips IMO. :)

The head is in good working order, new motor, but the top needs a bit of tender loving care. In fact, the table looks like my old table from the late 70's because the damage on the corner is where I used to stab my pricker/awl whilst machining. :)

Singer 132K6 (cutting block not included) :)

Anyone else have one?

I've already posted these on Richard's board and thought I'll post them here too.

A mixture of remakes (redesigned) and new builds. Most are my own work with the odd 2 man operation made by work colleague and friend, T. Hartnell and myself. Some pictures were taken before overal completion.

Feel free to comment and I will try to answer any questions that you may have.
