Maintenance:Do dust your leather with a soft dry cotton cloth on a regular basis. Dust and oils from human skin can wear down the leather over time. Don't use an abrasive brush or a microfiber cloth. Also, keep your leather furniture from being exposed to the sun, which can cause discoloration.

Use Distilled Water Only:Do remove or minimize a stain by blotting with distilled water. Blot at the stain until the towel or rag comes back dry. Then let the stain sit for 24 hours before re-evaluating it. Don't soak your leather in tap water or cleaner, as this could create a worse stain than the original. Please don't use a rubbing motion! Gently blot as much of the stain away as possible.

Butter Or Grease Stains:Do use a neutral soap (Ivory bar soap) if you need to clean a greasy surface. Some stains that are caused by greasy substances may require that the cloth be dampened in a dilute solution of a neutral soap and distilled water. Don't clean a grease stain with water only! Also avoid oils, saddle soap, cleaning solvents, furniture polish, varnish, abrasive cleaners, detergent soaps, or ammonia water. Oil-based cleaners tend to stretch leather, diminish the color, and pull at the stitching.

Bi-Annual Cleaning:Do use a factory authorized leather protection conditioner at least bi-annually. Be sure to focus on the nooks and crannies such as seat cushions and arm rests. Test your cleaner/conditioner in a hidden spot before using it on the entire leather furniture piece! Don't neglect your furniture. Routine upkeep will make your furniture last longer.

We offer Lexol cleaner and conditioner. 303 as well.

4. WHY DOES WEATHERMAX LT™ HAVE A DIFFERENT WEAVE?

WeatherMax LT™ has a different weave to make it lighter for applications where protection from the environment is the main concern.

   5. WHAT DOES SOLUTION DYED YARN MEAN AND HOW DOES IT MAKE AN OUTDOOR FABRIC BETTER?

A solution dyed yarn is a yarn where the color has been added into the polymer before it is extruded into a yarn form.

Because the color is part of the polymer, the fade resistance of a solution dyed yarn is superior to the fade resistance of package dyed yarn and piece dyed fabric.  The solution dyed polymers in WeatherMax™ have been especially chosen for their ability to resist fading and retain fabric strength.

   6. WHAT IS THE HYDROMAX™ FINISH?

The HydroMax™ finish is a highly water repellent finish that gives WeatherMax™ the ability to protect against heavy rain while keeping its breatheability and dimensional stability.

An anti-microbial component is added to the finish to prevent mildew growth on the fabric.  The HydroMax™ finish is extremely durable, providing many positive benefits, such as breatheability, resistance to mildew and dirt, and its ability to maintain a cooler temperature.

    7.  WHY DOESN'T WEATHERMAX™ HAVE A BACK COATING?
WeatherMax™ does not have a coating to allow the fabric to breathe, so heat and water vapor can evacuate, which is essential in preventing mildew growth.

   8. WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT IS GUARANTEED TO 1500 HOURS UV?  HOW LONG WILL THIS LAST?

WeatherMax 80™ comes with a limited warranty of 5 years (1500 hours).
WeatherMax LT™ comes with a limited warranty of 3 years (1000 hours).

   9. HOW DO YOU TEST TO 1500 HOURS?

The fabric is exposed to UV rays for 1500 hours and the resulting color is compared to the initial color and rated.

  10. WHAT IS THE COLOR RATING AFTER 1500 HOURS AND HOW DOES THIS COMPARE TO ACRYLIC FABRICS?

After 1500 hours, on a scale from 1 to 5, the color rating is 4.5, the same as Acrylic fabrics.

1. WHAT EXACTLY IS SATURAMAX™ YARN?

SaturaMax™ is Unifi's family of solution dyed yarns, produced in a wide array of saturated colors.
Perfect for a variety of end-uses, SaturaMax™ has superior color consistency, light fastness characteristics and is bleach cleanable. The color process used to create SaturaMax™ saves several gallons of water per pound of yarn produced, making it environmentally friendly.

   2. WHAT IS AN OTTOMAN WEAVE AND HOW DOES IT IMPROVE THE FABRIC DURABILITY?

An Ottoman weave is a combination of Plain weave and Basket weave, allowing WeatherMax™ to offer the best combination of strength, durability, and stability. It gives WeatherMax™ its firm feel and a very subtle ribbed texture, refined to the eye and luxurious to the hand.

   3. WHY DO YOU HAVE A WEATHERMAX 80™ AND A WEATHERMAX LT™?

The 80 or LT following WeatherMax™ are indications of its weight.  For example 80 is 8.0 oz/sqyd and LT is 6.5 oz/sqyd.
The reason for both weights is to provide our customers with the best product for their application.  Typically, WeatherMax 80™ is recommended for applications where strength and durability are the main concern (Marine, Awning), while WeatherMax LT™ is used where protection from the environment is the main concern (Covers, cushions, Umbrellas).

General Discussion / Re: Best thread for top stitch
March 12, 2013, 09:12:43 am
All polyester thread will fade from sunlight and break down from abrasion of people rubbing over the seam.  The other thing to keep in mind is that, if this is for amusement parks and other public applications there will be cleaning fluids involved in breaking down the thread.  In this case he mentioned only the color fading to white with no mention of thread breakage.  He is correct that the color does not matter except for black which is solution dyed, meaning that the color is infused into each of the fibers that make up the thread so it cannot fade.

Best options? Sunguard is one of the best made polyester threads, but dyeing colors still has its limitations.  He could use a white thread to begin with or use the solution dyed black that won't fade.  We are working on getting a few more colors made solution dyed, but the volumes are very high and it is expensive fiber.  We will let you know if we are able to get it done.  Chris was right about SolarFix® being a very good option, but the price may be prohibitive and abrasion will still be a longer term issue, though the vinyl will still need to be replaced sooner.

I wonder why you do not use the welting which tends to hide and protect the thread.  Hope this helps

Thanks to my connection to help get the best answer as well.

Okay reading the rest after the fact. Mike Outdura is Outdura, they make in in North Carolina. Sattler did buy them and they are updating the systems. They have hired people as well. Outdura is a little like the sun}#%^*a. But is is a true 9.25oz fabric.  :o

Thanks

Hello all. Acrylics are nice but harder to keep clean to a point. I would use the weathermax 80. Light 8oz but stronger than acrylic. Price is 25% less as well. Well depends on what you pay for acrylics. Now we offer three acrylics Recacril, Outdura and Sattler. All will do the job for you. I might be late on this one but I spoke my 2 cents.

NO PRICE INCREASE AS OF YET FROM THE MIAMI TEAM.  ;D

General Discussion / Re: Storage Cover for Wooden Boats
October 26, 2012, 06:50:14 am
Yes Softouch is a good product. The fabric has a soft backing so you will not get scratches on the wood finish. And if you want to step up and pay for the Trio from Outdura you can have a super cover for the boat. The trio has some breathability so venting is not needed. Again the backing on the trio is soft like the headliner in your car.

General Discussion / Re: Pink Spots
August 13, 2012, 06:00:38 pm
It really does not matter what marine grade vinyl you use, but some have better properties than others. This pink stuff can hit any vinyl.  Just have to watch out for the 4 things from my last post. I would recomend new foam or wrap the old with a foam plastic wrap. I know it's hard to up sell all your customers on new foam, but I would think if you all show them what can happen if you use the old foam. I bet you will get the new foam and a better piece of mind. Also by showing them these pictures and they do not want to buy the new foam, you should not have to worry if for some reason they get pink. But I know you would still work with your customers.

My last few thoughts on this.

Mike
