Once again you guys are great, so helpful, unfortunately I have had to pass on doing the job because my husband is in the hospital. Complications from blood thinners that he is on, he is bleeding internally and until they find the bleed we won't know how to fix it or what the implications will be. The customer is a neighbor and very understanding so no problem, but I really appreciate all your input.

General Discussion / sun shades

I have been asked to sew some sun shades for a recreational vehicle windows, I'm not sure if I can sew this type of material with my walking foot or my industrial lockstich. It is COM material, I also need some feedback on what type of thread to use (assuming it has to be uv resistant) and what type and size of needle to use.

Minup, thanks for the tip about mixing the two together  I wasn't doing that, makes sense.

Sofadoc, I took a look at the blower on the website that you provided, I am assuming that it has the ability to function as a blower and a vaccum? Do you use the white cotton bag that is shown on the website to load the stuffing?

I am using two different kinds of fill, the old fill from the original pillow forms which is denser and the new fill that I ordered, which is cut smaller, when I ordered the new fill I didn't realize that it was different from the existing fill, is it okay to mix these two or do I have to order some more of the old fill? Also if these are two different types of fill what are they called?

The loose back covers are not filling out the way I would like them to, also the cushions crumple if you rest your back on them.
Should I have made the pillow forms with channels? Or do I just keep adding stuffing until I get the result I want? If I have to add channels to the pillow forms how many? The cushions are 36"x18" and the outside right top edge flares out a little.

General Discussion / oiling walking foot machine
May 09, 2014, 06:22:43 am
I was told by my machine repair guy to oil my walking foot every time I use it, he also showed me some places to oil by lifting the machine head and oiling the moving parts. After he checked my machine out he oiled in all the places that he recommends,
and I noticed that my bobbin case was very oily, I'm concerned that by oiling the way he recommends I may end up getting a stain on the fabric, how often do you all oil your machines? I have a consew 206rb

General Discussion / pillow forms

Hi everybody! hope you are all well, I am making some pillow forms to stuff two loose cushions on a sofa, I need to know how much larger than the cushions should the pillow forms be so that the cushions fill out nicely in the corners, and what sort of material do you generally use to make the pillow forms?

General Discussion / Re: Changing sofa leg

Yeah, I don't think I can get a thicker piece of wood to hold the entire base of the new leg because the cross brace that is in the photo will get in the way, looks like I'm stuck with the existing leg and maybe changing up the finish on it.
