Good afternoon everyone, looking for a little help. I virtually never used binding until a year or so ago and whenever I did i never used the attachment piece. Just manual sewed it and not bad. But i have since been trying the attachments with no luck whatsoever! Using 7/8" binding normally, acrylic, tried adjusting the attachment back and forth, until my patience wears thin, then i just take it off and do it manually again. Figure I can save a lot of time and effort if I could just figure out what I am doing wrong. Catches on top fine. Bottom doesnt get caught and it acts like it gets an extra little "fold" in the binding. Maybe change pressure foots on the old pfaff? Ive been sewing for 40 plus years now and its frustrating that I suck at something that should be pretty straight forward......in my trwisted mind anyway, lol. Thanks in advance for any help, tips etc . Craig

I spent a bunch of money on this new to me tool only to now become very dissapointed in it as far as accuracy goes. Maybe im doing something wrong but being off just a little with ltds makes the whole joblook crappy. With existing studs already in place i use a hole punch to get a nice fit, then come back and cut the holes for the female part. After several jobs now and putting sharpie lines on that tool for centering etc, i think i am just going to go back to the hand punch where i can get it perfect every time. What sayeth the board?

General Discussion / First enclosure using Stamoid
June 11, 2014, 05:23:14 pm
Hey all, starting a 10 panel enclosure friday using stamoid for the first time on a 32 Alby express. 40 ga cc20-20 and my favorite thread to hate tenera. Any tips or do's, donts with the stamoid? Looks like it will actually be easier to work with than the sunbrella i have been using lately. Thanks folks :-\

General Discussion / What material
May 05, 2014, 02:54:20 pm
Hello folks, i have a request to make a 10x30' stage backdrop for a band (indoor)and then another really large one for outdoor stage. Anyone ever done anything like this? Curious as to what material to recommend. The old one is like a cotton/ duct type material probably #10. Pretty nasty and wrinkled bad. Ideas? Probably be a couple different colors and prefer something that wont wrinkle too bad when its folded up if thats possible. Thanks again for any help. Craig

Hello all, noob from va here. Mike from Classic Seacraft told me about your site and i have been lurking for a while and reading lots of posts. Looks like an awesome community although from my experiance in the past most guys in the marine canvas biz around here dont want to help anyone. I guess they are afraid of new competition. A quick resume , i retired from the fed goverment after 37 years in the industry doing "related" type work , mostly with plastics, pvcs, polyurethanes etc. Since ive retired i started doing some enclosure work in my garage for a few extra bucks and not it feels like i am working full time again ....almost, lol. Now too my question, for some reason i have all of a sudden started dropping stitches on my current project and cant seem to correct it. Using tenera thread mr1000 i believe and a size 22 needle. I have been playing with my needle thread tension and have changed needles, adjusted angles etc to not much avail. This actually seemed to start when i just started a new spool of thread on this job? Materials im using are 030 ga strataglass, acrylic, with and without zippers and binding. Ill usually sew a sample of the same fabric layers prior to sewing on the real thing and it seems to sew decent but will still drop one or two every 6" or so. Any thoughts or suggestions will be appreciated. If anyone has any questions on containments, glove bags , rf sealing machines or work amd materials of that nature i can more than likely help as well as that was my forte before i retired. Thanks and happy to be a new member of the group.
