If the was doing it , i would template from the front bow, make a 2" or so down flap where you can attach a zipper or three, and template the plastic straight off the front bow to the windshield. Run straight lines from the corner of the windshield up. This will give them more visibility as well. Nothing personal but that is one ugly boat cover. Lol

So since on the subject of strata i have another question, what mill are you guys using on the large sportfish boats? Say 47' and up boats, 40-60 gauge? 40 seems maybe a little loght?

@regalman- i think it has gotten softer as well. Not sure if it is the heat/ambiant temp or not but the last couple of jobs Ive used 40ga and it seemed to be super soft. Im thinking 60 gauge for my next couple of projects.

Yep the ol "M" fold is what ive been getting too. Im going to try to move it as close to the presser foot as I can and see if that helps. Got a job now with a lot of straight runs so ill try again. Thanks again for all the help and suggestions everyone, i really do appreciate it. Craig

I do it all the time, be it a trade for having work done on my harley or something I need for my boat. One Example, doing a small 3 sided enclosure that i would get around $700 for in exchange for a nice radar for my boat, used but in good shape and i know what he paid for it. Replaced some straps on anothers curtains today in exchange for fixing a couple of faucet issues i have from a plumber. Our daily fuel bill for the boat i billfish on runs around $1200. I maintain the canvas and curtains on it etc in exchange for my share when possible. Works out well for both of us.... So far. , lol. Cash is king but if "comeshaw work" as I call it , works a good deal for all parties involved i have no problems with it at all.

Mike, it doesnt catch the bottom and it creates a fold in the middle. Allan, i did have it up close to the feet one time but havnt recently. Maybe Ill try it back up close. Just picked up a large boat top, 12x15. ill try it again later this week, lol. Until my patience wavers anyway, lol. Need a body or two to go  marlin fishing tomorrow, anyone game? Lol

Heres my set up, 7/8" double folded binding, attachment. The folding is what screws it up

Ouch! Ive used both and didnt notice much difference but the Osea did have a slight tint that i could notice but only when side by side in the sunlight. I think Im going to start using Osea as both are way too expensive to be having defects when you pay that much for a piece of  pvc plastic basically.

If you try and cut the stitches out and try and replace it that way , it will be very tough to get it to fit right. Been there and tried that. When i have sewed over top and then cut out the old one, i will normally try and sew new facing if the rest of the curtain is in decent shape, if its ratty i just let it go. Strataglass recommends not leaving rolled up as the plastic will "pool", meaning it gets some weird looking swirls in it and the cheaper plastics are even worse. If they must roll them though definitely not your problem, lol. In hot weather 40ga will roll fine. Cold climate it does not. Where I live with both extremes i use 40 on larger boats and 30 on smaller rigs. In fact, most of the large boats I fish on, we prefer to not roll ot at all but just pull it up and snap it to the inside of the top. I know you didnt ask for all that, sorry, lol

Good afternoon everyone, looking for a little help. I virtually never used binding until a year or so ago and whenever I did i never used the attachment piece. Just manual sewed it and not bad. But i have since been trying the attachments with no luck whatsoever! Using 7/8" binding normally, acrylic, tried adjusting the attachment back and forth, until my patience wears thin, then i just take it off and do it manually again. Figure I can save a lot of time and effort if I could just figure out what I am doing wrong. Catches on top fine. Bottom doesnt get caught and it acts like it gets an extra little "fold" in the binding. Maybe change pressure foots on the old pfaff? Ive been sewing for 40 plus years now and its frustrating that I suck at something that should be pretty straight forward......in my trwisted mind anyway, lol. Thanks in advance for any help, tips etc . Craig

Dont forget to use a good sealant when installing the studs in the boat, i like 4200 or silicone

Gotcha Mike, i just use the mallet to punch the hole as well
