Wood roll edges - their date of use?

Wood roll edges were experienced while working on an older piece, just curious what the date of use of such was?  Perhaps someone like Joy will have a comment.

The chair is a rocker, wood grain is tiger, stronger than a rock.  It was reported to have been in the family for a good while, I might ask more but don't know how much the current family knows.

This is just one of those things a craftsman might make note of.........

I don't work on many of this nature, enjoyed the experience today.

I'm not sure you can date a chair by the wood rolled edge. Furniture builders have used them for centuries and probably some still do. A better clue would be the type padding, how was the frame joined, what type fasteners were used, etc. Post some pics. Sounds like a fun project.
There cannot be a crisis next week. My schedule is already full.
